"Hurry Up to Wait"
Devotion written by Bro. Jamie Bice
Have you ever been in a rush to get somewhere, only to get where you need to be and have to wait?
Ever rushed to arrive at your doctor's appointment on time, only to sit and wait in the waiting room for an hour? Then once you are called back, you sit and wait in the exam room for another 20 mins?
Have you ever made an appointment to get something small fixed on your car, only to have the auto tech discover more things wrong and they end up having your car an additional 2-3 days?
What does it mean to "wait"?
"Stay where one is or delay action until a particular time or until something happens.”
Lamentations 3:25-26 "The Lord is good unto them that wait for Him, to the soul that seeketh Him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord."
We live in a hurry-up, microwave kind of world. We want instant gratification. It is easy to get caught up in the busyness of life and feel rushed or hurried.
With the COVID-19 pandemic, we have all been forced to slow down and wait.
I would like to challenge and encourage us to use this slowdown, take time to reflect, pray, and come together as a family.
These are some things we cannot afford to rush:
Prayer
We need to slow down and spend time with the Lord and hear his voice.
Daily Devotion
His word needs to be hidden in our hearts.
Family Time
Our children need and deserve quality family time. We only have a few short years too instill important qualities in our children. We need to make sure we are investing in them!
Isaiah 40:31 says "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
Things to remember:
God is always in control!
God is always with me! God is always good!
God is always watching! God is always victorious! God always wins!
Psalm 46:1 "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."
